The first two are very nice examples of "Sixth Plate" tintype photos, which measure about 2. 75 x 3. 25 inch, and each show a Union Federal soldier sitting in repose. This was a very common pose, as the cameras of the age took quite long to expose, so the individual would need to sit still for some time. One of these photos
