Luck is in the Leftovers by Clara Ada Mantegazza Frank Ormsby ‘Thom Gunn smuggled the lyricIn her first collection, Clara Ada Mantegazza challenges the reader to create poetry as they read, empathising with her words on an intimately human level. Journeying across themes of alienation, mental health, and the oppressive societal dynamics of womanhood, Mantegazza leaves a visceral trail of personal experience for the reader to steel themselves and pursue, perhaps finding a sense of catharsis in the leftovers.
