Robert Ampeau & Fils Savigny les Beaune 2002 PURYEAR Red and black fruit meld

Red and black fruit meld with violets and a whisper of licorice

Would do well in many cocktails but has enough complexity to hold its own

and flan aromas

cracker-like malt body and a tantalizingly bitter finish

Bottled at natural cask strength

Robert Ampeau & Fils Savigny les Beaune 2002 PURYEAR Red and black fruit meldDomaine Robert Ampeau has one of the strangest business models in Burgundy: they will not sell you the wine until they think it is ready. Bottles go into the family's famously cold Meursault cellars and simply stay there, for decades, until someone decides the moment has come then they get inspected, cleaned up, labeled and released. Which is why a red from the 2002 vintage is showing up now, with more than twenty years of quiet aging already behind
