gravitas and tonicity expressed in Assemblage 5 is IWA’s unprecedented – somewhat avant-garde – proposition
5 hectare block of vineyards
which makes this 1er Cru Monthelie a delightful curiosity - the same biodynamic farming and obsessive cellar work
and their two Chignin-Bergeron cuvées (Bergeron is Savoie's name for Roussanne) trade off as a study in terroir
supple and creamy
Alonso & Pedrajo Suane Rosado Reserva 2020 SP051726 Beuer gravitas and tonicity expressed inThis is not a poolside rose. Alonso & Pedrajo, a young Rioja Alta project farming high altitude vines at the region's cool western edge, make their Suane rosado the old fashioned, serious way, with white and red grapes given skin contact and then aged in French oak. The result is pale salmon in the glass but structured and savory on the palate, with real texture and a mineral spine. It's a rose built for the dinner table rather than the aperitif hour.
